If you experience issues with Document Distributor Zip files on Microsoft Windows, you can fix these by following the guidance below.

If the Document Distribution app name exceeds Microsoft’s filename length you may get an error or warning message, similar to the ones shown below, when extracting the Zip or viewing a PDF contained within the Zip file.

This usually means you will need to reduce the length of the filename.

You can rename the Zip file to a shorter filename, or when you extract the Zip file using ‘Extract All’, change the filename to a shorter one as shown in the example below:

1 – Select ‘Extract All’

2 – Shorten the filename, in this example, the filename length has been reduced to ‘IMGA183255 North Street’

After the Zip has been extracted, you should be able to open the PDF’s contained in the Zip file.
