AppCan takes security seriously, and here are the measures we have implemented to ensure your data remains secure:

1. Data Encryption on AppCan XP:
   • Data captured and stored on AppCan XP is encrypted.
   • Encryption is provided when a passcode, Touch ID, or Face ID is active on the mobile device.
   • It’s recommended to activate passcodes or biometric authentication on your devices.
   • Mobile Device Management (MDM) can also enforce security settings.
2. AppCan Cloud Security:
   • AppCan Cloud uses SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) technology to establish an encrypted link.
   • This ensures that sensitive information is transmitted securely.
   • All data transferred between AppCan XP and AppCan Cloud is encrypted, preventing unauthorised access.
3. Timed Log Out:
   • AppCan Cloud includes a timed log-out feature.
   • Users are automatically logged out after 2 hours of inactivity.
   • This provides added protection if you forget to log out manually.
4. Account Lockout:
   • AppCan Cloud and AppCan XP will disable access after three incorrect login attempts.
   • This helps prevent unauthorised access due to multiple failed login attempts.

Suggested Security Protocols

1. Set Up a Strong Passcode:
   • Ensure your mobile device has a passcode or biometric lock (such as Touch ID or Face ID).
   • Avoid using easily guessable passcodes.
2. Protect Your Login Details:
   • Never share your login credentials with anyone.
   • Avoid storing them on your device in a way that others might recognise.
3. Change Your Password Promptly:
   • If you suspect unauthorised access, change your AppCan Cloud or AppCan XP password immediately.
4. Avoid Sharing Sensitive Information:
   • Never disclose your passcode, password, or full security details in response to calls, emails, or texts.
5. Secure Wi-Fi Usage:
   • Be cautious when using public Wi-Fi. Ensure it’s secure before connecting.
6. Log Out After Use:
   • Always log out of AppCan Cloud or AppCan XP when you’ve finished using it.

When using AppCan Cloud or AppCan XP, it’s crucial to follow these security protocols:

1. High Security Encryption: AppCan employs security measures equivalent to those found in banking apps. This includes robust encryption both on the web backend and within the app itself.
2. Data Ownership: Your data is always yours. AppCan guarantees that your data remains under your control, and you can even restrict AppCan staff from accessing your specific cloud storage.
3. UK-Based Servers: AppCan’s servers are located in the United Kingdom, ensuring data sovereignty and compliance with local regulations.
4. Microsoft Azure: AppCan leverages Microsoft Azure’s enterprise-grade cloud platform for scalability, high availability, redundancy, and data security

Encryption at Rest

1. AppCan Cloud Encryption:
   • All data stored in AppCan Cloud, including SQL databases and file storage, is encrypted at rest by default. This ensures that your data remains secure even when it’s not actively in use.
2. Mobile Operating Systems (iOS/Android):
   • If you set up a passcode or other personal authentication method on your mobile device, the data stored on it (including AppCan data) is encrypted at rest. This adds an extra layer of security to protect your information.
